WAVERLY, Tenn. — The Huntingdon Fillies and Mustang basketball teams traveled to Waverly last week for the district 12-AA tournament. The Fillies earned the district championship. Meanwhile, the Mustangs, after finishing second in the regular season, finished fourth in the tournament.

The Fillies, behind freshman sensation Wylie Kee, coasted to the district tournament title and after finishing the season on a 12-game winning streak added two more and will host Harpeth Friday in the first round of the region at Huntingdon. The winner of that game will advance to the semifinals of the region that Waverly will host.

The Mustangs will have to travel after their fourth-place finish for the first round of the region tournament and will face the champions of district 11-AA Cheatham County on Saturday night in Ashland City.
The Fillies, now 24-3 for the season, got 53 points in two games from Kee, who also won MVP honors for both the district tournament and the regular season.
