
One of the stars from the 2025 state championship Huntingdon Mustang football team is furthering his career at UT Martin. Braylin Dearmon, a senior and three-sport athlete at Huntingdon High School officially signed his letter of commitment to the Skyhawks football program at a signing ceremony at Huntingdon High School on February 9.

Dearmon starred on both sides of the football for the Mustangs who defeated Marion County 20-7 on December 6, 2025, in Chattanooga to win their second state championship in school history. Dearmon stood out especially on offense and played QB and running back during the course of the season. Dearmon rushed 158 times for 1,184 yards and scored 13 touchdowns. He completed 4 of 10 passes for 56 yards and a touchdown and caught one pass for 14 yards.
Dearmon who was recruited as a linebacker for the Skyhawks, played cornerback and outside linebacker for the Mustangs and helped lead a defense that posted three shutouts and held seven of their 15 opponents to seven points or less. Dearmon recorded 52 tackles for the season, 32 of those solo tackles, 20 assists, with three tackles for loss and intercepted a pass that came in the state championship game.
Porsche McClerking, Dearmon’s basketball coach and the principal at the high school, remarked how Braylin was of high character and has enjoyed watching him grow and mature during his four years at the high school. Eric Swenson the head football coach for the Mustangs spoke to the crowd gathered and stated that if Braylin starts the work now, that with his talent he will play a lot his first year on campus at UT Martin and looks forward to watching him play at the next level.
Braylin is the son of Joey and Krista Darnall.
