Two “Road Closed” signs blocked the entrance to Boyd’s Landing Rd. and Lake Halford was buzzing with activity, July 30, as Martin Paving began paving the parking lots.

TWRA Wildlife Resources Officer Jeremy Gooch was posted at the entrance, making sure that only paving personnel enter through the gate.
“They’ve been here since about 6 this morning,” Gooch said.
He said Martin Paving plans to finish the project over the weekend, and hopes to reopen the lake on Monday, August 4.
But nothing was official.
Over the past week, Martin Paving crews swept loose gravel from the lots, prepping them for asphalt.

TWRA first announced the closure on July 11 , and the lake was closed to the public on July 21.
Gooch mentioned that Lake Halford was recently named a Bill Dance Signature Lake, which is a partnership between TWRA, the Department of Tourist Development, and fishing legend Bill Dance.
The program brings upgrades such as improved boat ramps, bank fishing access, signage, and other enhancements.
Lake Halford is one of 18 lakes in Tennessee to receive these investments through the $15 million initiative.
