The second train collision in a month at the railroad crossing on Harris Rd. near McKenzie has claimed the lives of two Carroll County residents.
According to reports, a bucket truck was attempting to cross the tracks when they collided with the CSX train Saturday morning, September 6.
One occupant died at the scene. The other was airlifted to a trauma center in Nashville, but later succumbed to injuries.
CSX confirmed the incident and issued the following statement:
“At approximately 8:30 a.m. ET on Saturday, Aug. 6, a CSX train came in contact with a pickup truck with two passengers located near Harris Road in McKenzie, Tennessee. Carroll County EMS quickly responded to the scene and later reported that one individual was fatally injured, and one was transported to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries. There were no injuries to the crew.
CSX extends its deepest sympathies to everyone impacted by this tragic incident and will continue to support local law enforcement as they complete the investigation.”
The names of those involved and further details have not been released at this time.
