The second train collision in a month at the Harris Road railroad crossing near McKenzie has now claimed the lives of two young Carroll County adults.

Luke Scott, who turned 18 in July and worked as a lineman for Drewry Communications, was killed in a train collision in McKenzie, Tennessee. He is pictured during a recent trip to the beach.

The crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, when a pickup truck carrying 18-year-old Luke Scott and 26-year-old Martin Perez was struck by a CSX train.

According to sources, Scott died at the scene.

Perez was airlifted to a Nashville trauma center but later succumbed to injuries.

Perez was a 2018 graduate of McKenzie High School, and Scott had just celebrated his 18th birthday in July.

They were both linemen for Drewry Communications.

CSX released a statement following the incident, offering condolences.

The company said it extends its deepest sympathies to everyone impacted by the tragedy and will continue to support local law enforcement as they complete the investigation.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation by local authorities.
