The Dresden Lions controlled the line of scrimmage from start to finish in a 35-0 shutout of West Carroll on Friday night, August 5, in Atwood.

The Lions piled up 338 rushing yards and 407 total yards of offense while holding the War Eagles to just 8 yards and one completion.

Bruce Willis put Dresden on the board with touchdown runs of two and five yards in the first half. After a scoreless third quarter, the Lions broke it open late with three touchdowns in the fourth to seal the shutout win.

Dresden’s Di Pietro led all rushers with 165 yards on 20 carries, while Willis added 87 yards and Aiden Carrington chipped in 49. Willis also went 4-of-5 passing for 69 yards, keeping the Lions’ offense balanced.

For West Carroll, Qumarion Patterson provided the biggest highlight, breaking loose for a 24-yard run.

Mason Taylor finished with 14 rushing yards, and Parker Newman connected with Patterson for the War Eagles’ lone completion.

The War Eagles dropped to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in district play, while Dresden improved to 3-0.

The War Eagles will look to bounce back on Friday, Sept. 12, when they travel to Jackson to face the Trinity Christian Academy Lions at 7 p.m.
