The Carroll County Health Department, part of the Tennessee Department of Health, will give free flu shots on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at 633 High Street, Huntingdon, TN 38344, as part of the statewide 2025 Fight Flu prevention effort.
“Receiving an annual flu vaccine is the best way to protect yourself and those around you from the worst outcomes of the flu virus,” County Director, Emily Rushing said. “The flu vaccine is safe and effective and help prepare your body to fight against the flu virus and prevent it from spreading.”
Everyone six months and older can receive a flu shot, and no appointment is needed at local health departments on Oct. 21.
The flu spreads easily through respiratory droplets from coughs and sneezes and can survive on surfaces like doorknobs, countertops, and tissues for up to two days. Pregnant women, infants, older adults, and people with chronic health conditions face the greatest risk of serious complications. Symptoms can range from mild to severe and may include cough, fatigue, fever, headache, muscle aches, sore throat, and a runny or stuffy nose.
People can reduce the spread of flu by washing their hands with soap and water, covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or elbow, and staying home when sick.
