Paris Attorney Enters Plea for Multiple Charges

Former Paris attorney Michael Ainley accepted a negotiated plea in Henry County Circuit Court related to three amended assault charges and one additional felony charge of introducing contraband into a penal institution.

Two of the assault charges were reduced from sexual battery offenses, and the third was reduced from a misdemeanor assault.

Under the plea agreement, Ainley will receive judicial diversion. He will serve a five-year probation sentence.

Ainley als0 agreed to permanent disbarment in every state where he has held a license. He is also barred from contacting the victims and is required to close his law practice.

The hearing to confirm the plea and impose sentence is scheduled for January 9, 2026

Ainley was originally arrested in early July after a TBI investigation into allegations that he had been sexually inappropriate with female clients.
