West Carroll Elementary School recently recognized student achievement in reading by honoring those who met an ambitious literacy goal during the first semester of the school year. A total of 72 students successfully reached the milestone of reading 50 or more books or earning 50 Accelerated Reader points.

To celebrate their hard work and dedication, the students were treated to a special lunch held in the school library. Decorated in red, white, and blue, the library provided a festive setting that reflected this year’s library theme, First Frontiers. Students are currently studying the American Revolution and the Founding Fathers, making the patriotic theme a perfect fit for the celebration.

During the event, students enjoyed their meal in the library and received several commemorative items, including an eagle dessert, a copy of the Preamble to the Constitution, a lapel pin, an American flag, and a Christmas ornament to remember the occasion.

West Carroll Elementary is proud of these students for their determination, commitment, and success in reading. Their accomplishments highlight the importance of literacy and the school’s ongoing efforts to inspire a love of reading in all students.
