The ice on roadways and in parking lots was still rather slick last Wednesday, January 28, when a Wildersville man crashed a side-by-side into the Carroll County Humane Society building. Christopher Halters was arrested for DUI shortly after the incident.

According to a video shared on the Humane Society’s Facebook page, Halters was riding the vehicle on the icy parking lot and struck a garage door. The post said the impact pushed nearby kennels several feet from their original position. Animals inside the building were startled by the impact, according to the post.

A comment under the post stated the driver attempted to flee the scene but became stuck in nearby bushes before law enforcement arrived.

Halters was arrested and booked into Carroll County Jail on several charges, including DUI, driving on Revoked License from DUI 1st, Vandalism, and Violation of Implied Consent.

His bond totaled $7,000. Halters is released on bond as of February 3. A hearing date has not been set as of the time of this writing.
