Lady Rebels Fall to Houston County in District 12-A Semifinals

McEWEN, Tenn. — McKenzie’s Lady Rebels fell short in their matchup against Houston County’s Lady Fighting Irish, losing 63-49 in the District 12-A Semifinals Saturday at McEwen. Both teams combined for 54 free throw attempts in a foul-heavy night with inconsistent officiating throughout.

Jaycee Stafford led the Lady Rebels with 24 points, going 14-of-15 from the free throw line and hitting four three-pointers. Braylin Auvenshine added 14 points, including 9 in the first quarter, while Addison Littleton chipped in 7.

McKenzie outperformed Houston County at the free throw line, hitting 22 of 26 attempts compared to the Lady Fighting Irish’s 13 of 28, but Houston County outscored the Lady Rebels form the field. Houston County’s Maddie Brooks led all scorers with 19 points.

The Lady Rebels will face Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central’s Lady Tigers in the consolation game Monday at 6 p.m. at McEwen.
