MCKENZIE, Tenn. — When a number of police officers and investigators were seen gathered at E.W. James’s parking lot last Wednesday, April 22, it was widely reported on social media that an ICE raid was taking place.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office confirmed there was no ICE involvement. It was a drug raid conducted by Drug Taskforce that resulted in the arrest of two individuals.

Agents were pictured gathered at E.W. James, however the raid took place at the residence of one of the men.

Becerra Prudencia

Becerra Prudencia, 69, was booked into the Carroll County jail at 2:07 p.m. that day, facing three charges including possession of a Schedule 2 controlled substance with intent and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. His bonds total $200,000.

Jesus Mendoza, 57, was booked later that evening at 5:03 p.m. and faces four counts of possession of a Schedule 2 controlled substance with intent to deliver hydrocodone.

No bond amount was listed for Mendoza.

Neither individual had a listed release date as of the time of booking.
