McKENZIE, Tenn. — The Rebels celebrated homecoming Friday with a 49-7 win over Chester County, powered by a big night from senior receiver Avery Brown and senior quarterback Cole Brown.
Cole Brown dominated through the air. He completed 23 of 31 passes for 402 yards and five touchdowns. He also added two rushing touchdowns on the ground.
Avery Brown was Cole’s favorite target. He hauled in five catches for 144 yards and three touchdowns, including a long of 66 yards.
Senior Jacobi Melton had a strong night as well. He caught nine passes for 153 yards, while sophomore Parker Ross and junior Maddox Shiell each caught touchdown passes.
On the ground, junior Jayden Callis led McKenzie with 49 yards on seven carries.
Defensively, sophomore Dawson Reeder and senior Lelan Gordon paced the Rebels with eight and nine tackles, respectively, and Reeder added an interception he returned 38 yards. Junior Aiden Carrington and Callis each recorded a sack.
Kicker Jony Hernandez was perfect on the night, going 7-for-7 on extra points.
Final: McKenzie 49, Chester County 7.
McKenzie is now 4-2 for the season overall, and 1-0 in region.
The Rebels travel to Collinwood on Friday, October 2 to face the Trojans in region play.
