HUNTINGDON, Tenn. — The Mustangs celebrated senior night in dominant fashion Friday, shutting out Gibson County 54-0.
They scored 21 points in each of the first two quarters before pulling back in the second half with a running clock.
Kenton Smith accounted for three touchdowns, rushing for scores of 26 and 33 yards and throwing a 17-yard touchdown pass to Maddox Holmes.
Zayden Connelly added a 43-yard rushing touchdown, while Noah Webb and Ayden King each scored on short runs in the second half.
Huntingdon’s defense and special teams also found the end zone, as K’Shun Carter returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown and Kylen Turner added a 42-yard interception return for a score.
Grayson Anderson made four of his five extra-point attempts.
The Mustangs finished with 254 rushing yards on 18 carries and a 12-5 edge in first downs, while holding Gibson County to just 39 rushing yards and 17 passing yards. Huntingdon forced two interceptions and did not turn the ball over.
Final: Huntingdon 54, Gibson County 0.
The Mustangs will look to stay unbeaten Oct. 1 when they travel to take on Riverside in Decatur County (4-2), with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
