A Bruceton woman was seriously injured in an alleged stabbing Monday afternoon at Bruceton City Park, and her partner is now facing felony charges in connection with the incident.
Bruceton Police Department responded to the scene around 2:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a stabbing.
Officers arrived to find a woman with severe injuries.
She was taken first to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon, then transferred to a Jackson hospital for emergency surgery.
The victim, who was identified by family and in social media posts as Whitney Larkins, later shared a public Facebook statement detailing the assault.
In the post, she alleged that she was attacked in front of her 4-year-old son.
“The man I had been with for 15 years tried to kill me yesterday,” Larkins wrote.
She said the stabbing left her with a deep gash near her eye that nearly caused blindness.
Larkins urged others in abusive relationships to leave before it’s too late.
“If they hit you once, I promise they will never stop,” she wrote.
Sources confirmed that 37-year-old Gerald Luther was arrested following the incident and booked into the Carroll County Jail. According to jail records, he is charged with aggravated assault and domestic-related assault. His total bond is set at $75,000.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Luther remained in custody.
Police have not publicly identified either the suspect or the victim, and confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
