Our History
Carroll County Observer was founded in May, 2025 with the goal to continue building upon the county’s long history of community-focused reporting that keeps residents informed and engaged.
Carroll County’s journalistic roots date back to the 19th century with publications like the Huntingdon Advertiser (established in 1839), the Tennessee Republican (founded in 1870), and the Carroll County Democrat (founded in 1887). These early newspapers laid the groundwork for a vibrant local media landscape, covering everything from civic affairs to community events.
Building upon this legacy, the Observer embraces modern digital platforms to deliver timely news, sports, education, and public notices. We strive to uphold the values of transparency, accountability, and community service that have long defined journalism in Carroll County.
