Carroll County’s Office on Aging will receive $11,000 in state grant funding as part of a statewide initiative by the Tennessee Department of Disability and Aging (DDA) to strengthen programming, facilities, and wellness resources for older adults across Tennessee.
The grants are part of a $5 million investment distributed to 125 senior centers statewide, with each center receiving between $10,000 and $50,000.
The funds will help support capital projects, programming, marketing, and other operational expenses, excluding staff salaries.
“This initiative ensures that senior centers across Tennessee have the resources to continue offering vital physical, emotional, and mental nourishment to older adults,” said DDA Commissioner Brad Turner. “These grants will help centers in both rural and urban communities stay equipped to serve our growing aging population.”
State Representatives Brock Martin and Tandy Darby each made statements in separate press releases.

State Representative Brock Martin of Huntingdon, who represents the 79th District, noted that senior centers play a crucial role in keeping older Tennesseans connected and active.
“This investment ensures our senior centers can continue providing vital services in safe, welcoming environments,” Martin said. “Supporting older adults in our communities is not just a priority, it’s a responsibility.”

Representative Tandy Darby of Greenfield, who represents parts of Carroll in the 76th District also praised the funding.
“These senior centers make a real difference in the lives of older adults,” Darby said. “I’m proud to support this investment that will help them improve facilities, expand programming and continue serving as a resource for our communities.”
Other centers receiving grant funds in Districts 76 and 79 include:
- Paris Henry County Senior Citizens Center Association – $50,000
- Martin Gateway Center – $10,000
- Dresden Senior Citizens Center – $10,000
- Sharon Senior Center – $10,000
- Gibson County Office on Aging / Bradford Senior Center – $29,000
- Milan Senior Citizen Center – $14,000

The funding comes from a $42.5 million allocation approved in the 2025–26 state budget to enhance emergency and community-based services statewide.
