What an incredible evening for high school football teams and fans in Carroll County and across West Tennessee last night, November 28, as several teams advanced to the TSSAA Blue Cross Bowl State Football Championships next weekend, December 4-6.

Huntingdon’s Mustangs defeated their longtime rival, Milan Bulldogs in a closely-contested matchup that kept every spectator on the edge of their seats.
The two teams traded touchdowns throughout the first half.
At halftime, Huntingdon led 21-14, with the Bulldogs set to receive in the third quarter.
With just over three minutes left in the third quarter, the Mustangs capitalized on a turnover, and widened their lead, 28-14.

After trading touchdowns once more, the Mustangs found themselves punting on a fourth down, midway in the final quarter.
Milan’s Bulldogs inched their way toward the endzone, looking to bridge their seven-point deficit, and draining the clock along the way.
In the final minutes, the Bulldogs found the endzone, bringing the score within a point of the Mustangs, 35-34.
Instead of going for the field goal to tie the game, Milan went for the two-point conversion, but a wall of Mustangs stopped them in their tracks.

Mustang fans erupted in cheers as Huntingdon secured the win. Sounds of homemade shakers, train horns, cowbells, and cheers of joy filled the visitor side of Johnnie Hale Stadium.
On Saurday, December 6, the Mustangs will face Marion County in the Class 2A BlueCross Bowl.
