Drivers might notice a new building emerging on Dillahunty Ln. beside Huntingdon Discount Tire. That is the future 911 office, and framing is well underway.

Carroll County 911 Director Kristy Meggs recently gave Carroll County Observer a tour of the new office under construction.
“The three main points were training, security and dispatch,” Meggs said. “We wanted everything under one roof.”
The facility is designed to house administration offices, a training space, and a backup dispatch center, with separate access points to allow public training events without disrupting operations.
The training room will be open for use by nonprofits and other government agencies, while the secure areas will be dedicated to 911 functions.
The building will also be the future location for all 911 Board meetings.

“We’re excited to see it coming together,” Meggs exclaimed. “We’ve waited a long time for this.”
Meggs said the project has been in the works for over a decade and was built with growth in mind, including the possibility of accommodating expanded dispatch capabilities.
After framing, the next phase in construction includes setting trusses.
The building’s facade will be a whitewashed brick with a slate-colored metal roof and appointments.
Substantial completion is projected for April 2026, weather permitting.
