A race car hauler on its way to Clayhill Motorsports Park was struck by a CSX train Friday afternoon, August 15, at the railroad crossing on State Route 105 in Trezevant.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s preliminary report, a 2002 Kenworth semi truck owned by Arlie Rains of Marion, Arkansas was pulling a recreational trailer. The ttrailer became lodged on the crossing, and was unable to clear the tracks.
Witnesses said the driver exited the cab and was preparing to call the CSX emergency line when the train approached and struck the trailer.
On impact, parts, pieces, and debris scattered around the crossing, and littered the area with wreckage.
Trezevant Fire, Atwood Fire, Carroll County Fire, Carroll County EMA, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, THP, Baptist EMS, and others responded.
A wrecker service out of West Memphis, Arkansas cleared the vehicle and trailer from the crossing. Crews were seen working through the night.
No injuries were reported, and no charges have been filed at the time of this writing.
CSX closed the crossing until either August 20 or August 21 for crossing gate repairs. The gates were damaged from the collision.
The incident remains under investigation by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
