The Carroll County Technical Center (CCTC) welcomed Special Agent Charles J. Pankenier, Assistant to the Special Agent in Charge with the United States Secret Service, on Friday, August 22.

Pankenier has served with the USSS for 23 years.

He spoke to Dr. John Tankersley’s Criminal Justice students and Health Sciences students, where he shared the roles of the Secret Service and discussed various government career opportunities.

Pankenier shared insights from his career, which has included assignments on the protective details for both President Barack Obama and President Donald Trump. He spent four years on President Obama’s detail and two years on President Trump’s, before moving to his current role in the Memphis field office.

CCTC Principal Joe Norval said the visit made a big impact on students.

“To have him in front of the kids, and show the kids pictures of him holding the door open for President Trump and standing with President Obama – it was really cool,” Norval said.

The agent brought along tools of the trade, including counterfeit hundred-dollar bills used in training.

“Kids were really astonished, and they asked really good questions,” Norval said. “I’d love to have him back next year, if possible.”
