I was surprised last night with a plaque from Hollow Rock-Bruceton Special School District.
It reads: “Presented to Jesse Joseph. Thank you for your support and for being a ‘Friend of Central’ 2025”
When I got into this line of work, recognition and accolades were the furthest thing from my mind.
Getting to do this job is a gift in itself. The fact that I get to tell stories, ask questions, and put a spotlight on all things that make our communities special, that’s already more than enough.
When you pair that with the idea that my work might actually make a difference, no matter how small or large, it’s even more humbling.
I was speechless when handed the plaque, and am still speechless now.
Because the truth is, none of what I do even matter without you, the readers. If you didn’t care about what happens in your schools, your towns, and your neighborhoods, there wouldn’t be much point in reporting on them.
But you do care.
So thank you for reading, for trusting me to tell your stories, and for making this work so rewarding.

Well deserved!!
