Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Tigers emerged victorious against Fulton County Pilots, winning 39-16 on Friday, September 12.
The team made history twice in a game that both lasted more than three hours, and ended early with time on the clock.
Senior receiver Brady Roberts broke the school’s all-time receiving record, surpassing Hunter Cole’s mark of 1,498 yards. By night’s end, Roberts had climbed to 1,579 career yards, adding five catches for 84 yards and two touchdowns to secure his place in program history.
The win also lifted the Tigers to 4-0 for the first time since 1996.
Offense
Quarterback B. Howard put on a show, completing 12 of 25 passes for 280 yards and five touchdowns.
Alongside Roberts’ record-setting night, senior Seth Thomas hauled in four receptions for 131 yards and one touchdown.
Junior Tanner Walters gave the Tigers another scoring option, catching three passes for 65 yards and two touchdowns.
On the ground, Korbin Brown carried went for 81 yards and a touchdown on 10 rushes, while Nic King added 42 yards on just four carries.
Roberts and junior Deagan Collins chipped in runs of 27 and 14 yards, respectively.
Defense
The defense matched the offense’s energy.
Collins was everywhere, recording 3 tackles, 7 assists, 2 sacks, and 3 tackles for loss.
Johnny Tilley added 8 assists, a sack, and a tackle for loss.
Unusual Ending
The game kicked off at 7 p.m. and stretched past 10:20. It still ended early with 1:20 left on the clock after tensions between the two teams allegedly escalated into threats. By that point, the Tigers had already secured the victory.
Representatives from both school districts released statements following the game.
Fulton County Superintendent wrote:
“We sincerely apologize for any inappropriate behavior from either team at our home football game on Friday night. We do not support nor condone these behaviors from either school. An investigation is in process, and we will follow school policies. We do have great students and fans that follow all expectations, and I’m proud to be a Pilot.”
Hollow Rock-Bruceton Director of Schools Dr. Myles Hebrard wrote:
“For the safety of our players and staff, the football game with Fulton County (KY) was called with time left on the clock in the 4th quarter. All students and personnel are safely back in Tennessee. Thank you to our fans who made the journey, and to those cheering loudly from our home communities tonight, to support our Tigers.”
