Trezevant’s water tower will soon undergo a full cleaning and inspection after the Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted Tuesday night, Sept. 9, to hire Mid South Tank for the job at their bid price of $4,700.

Trezevant Mayor Bobby Blaylock and Vice Mayor Pam Joyner sit at the board table during the September 8, 2025 meeting, where the town approved a bid for water tower cleaning and debated brush pickup.

Public Works Manager Erik Grimes urged the board to choose the company after discussing the job with them directly.

“That would be my pick,” Grimes said. “They know exactly what I want done.”

Work Details

Mid South Tank will drain the tower so crews can pressure-wash the inside walls and disinfect the interior. Divers will vacuum sediment from the clearwell, and the structure will be inspected for corrosion, leaks, and other defects.

The work also calls for pit-depth measurements and chip analysis to determine whether the tank remains fit for continued service.

Finally, the company will provide photographic documentation of the entire process for the town’s records.

Brush Pickup

The board then debated how to handle brush pickup around town.

Mayor Bobby Blaylock suggested an as-needed approach. He proposed that town employees ride through town during their downtime to find brush piles that need picked up, as opposed to one set time each month.

“If we’ve got time to do it, do it, and then do something else the next day,” Blaylock said.

Town Clerk Gabrielle Davis pushed back, favoring a set schedule.

“I think you should have a universal set day so everybody clearly knows,” she said. “It’s a waste of resources to not have a specific day.”

No decisions were made, and brush pickup will continue as normal.

Halloween Festival

The board also heard updates on preparations for the annual Halloween Festival on Oct. 25.

The event will include food, candy booths, a costume contest, and karaoke.

“Everybody’s invited to come and set up a booth to give candy out to the kids,” said Mary Jo Hall.

Trezevant’s next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 14.
