TCA Lions Shut Out War Eagles

West Carroll War Eagles endured a tough night at home Friday, September 12, falling 42–0 to the Trinity Christian Academy Lions.

First Half Dominance

The Lions set the tone early, racing to a 21–0 lead in the first quarter and adding two more touchdowns before halftime to make it 35–0.

West Carroll’s defense settled in somewhat after the break, and held TCA scoreless in the third quarter. However, the visitors tacked on one final touchdown in the fourth to close the night.

West Carroll Offense

The War Eagles mustered just three first downs in the game. Two of the first downs were on the ground and one came via penalty.

The War Eagles were held to 30 total yards of offense on 28 plays, averaging just over a yard per snap.

Quarterback Parker Newman led the ground game with 19 yards on 10 carries, followed by Mason Taylor’s 10 yards on 11 attempts. Newman went 0-for-3 passing with one interception.

TCA’s Performance

TCA piled up 183 rushing yards and 151 passing yards.

Running back Hank Miller scored twice on the ground and finished with 62 yards on just four carries, including a 37-yard sprint.

Quarterback Owen Atwood completed 7 of 8 passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns, while receiver Gabe Lee hauled in two scores as part of his 55-yard night.

Special Teams

Despite the offensive struggles, West Carroll showed effort on special teams. Taylor collected 80 yards on four kick returns, including a long of 30, while Qumarion Patterson added 43 yards on three returns. Newman handled punting duties, booting five kicks for an average of 25.4 yards.

Overall, the War Eagles are 1-3 for the season, and 0-1 in their district. According to MaxPreps, West Carroll is ranked fifth in District 7A.

On Friday, September 19, they travel to Humboldt for a district matchup against the Vikings.
