The McKenzie High School Rebel Band finished its season with a strong showing at the Tennessee Division I State Marching Band Championships on Saturday, November 1, earning Superior Ratings in every category during preliminary competition.
The band received top marks for Drum Major, Color Guard, Percussion, and Band, making McKenzie one of only three programs statewide to earn superior ratings in all captions.
In finals, Drum Major Katelynn Essary and the Percussion section each earned second place overall, while the band finished fourth overall for the second
consecutive year.
Band leaders praised the students’ dedication and the support of parents and boosters, calling the performance a fitting end to a successful 2025 season.
