CARROLL COUNTY, Tenn. — As early voting for the August election is well underway, municipal races throughout Carroll County are beginning to take shape.
According to a candidate petition list from the Carroll County Election Commission from Monday, July 20, 30 candidates have picked up or filed qualifying petitions for the November 3 municipal election.
The qualifying deadline for candidates is Thursday, August 20 at noon, with a withdrawal deadline of Thursday, August 27 at noon.
Voters must be registered by Monday, October 5 to participate. Early voting will run from Wednesday, October 14 through Thursday, October 29, with Election Day on Tuesday, November 3.
Here is a look at the races currently drawing candidates across the county.
Town of Atwood
Terry Joe Herndon has picked up a petition for mayor. Three candidates, Dustin Johnathon Church, Nancy Jo Ann Long and Thomas Alan Polinski, have picked up petitions for alderman.
Town of Bruceton
Incumbent Robert T. Keeton, III, has picked up a petition for mayor. Jack R. Blocker has picked up a petition for alderman.
Town of Hollow Rock
Ronnie Webb has picked up a petition for mayor. James Robison and Angela C. Stockdale have picked up petitions for alderman. Cathie L. Pardue has picked up a petition for the town’s unexpired alderman term.
City of McKenzie
Ryan D. Griffin, who has filed his petition, is seeking another term as mayor. Four candidates, Tom Alexander, Carol Armpriest, Armand J. Hebert, III, and Bobby L. Young, have picked up petitions for councilperson. Griffin and Young have both filed.
City of McLemoresville
Three candidates have picked up petitions for mayor: Austin Prater, Phillip R. Williams and Nathan Bradley Worrell.
Six candidates have picked up petitions for alderman: Robert Lee Alford, Sharron Dawn Holland, Adam W. Martin, John Michael Presson, Lana Y. Suite and Kimmy Jo Wheeler. Alford, Holland and Wheeler have filed.
Town of Trezevant
Five candidates have picked up petitions for alderman: Donald M. Barger, Daniel Joseph Dieringer, Beth Anne Farrell, Pamela D. Joyner and Elizabeth A. Yohman.
Tennessee House of Representatives
Kirk D. Carter has filed a petition for Tennessee House of Representatives, running Independent.
The list reflects candidates who have picked up petitions as of July 20 and is subject to change as the August 20 qualifying deadline approaches. Not all candidates listed have officially filed to run.
