Thatcher Crews, son of Trey and Tammy Crews and grandson of Brenda and Norman Leslie and Tommy and Paulette Crews, will be attending Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tennessee, in August as a Freshman majoring in Engineering.
During his graduation commencement at Riverside High School in Parsons, Tennessee, he was awarded The Kennedy Scholarship, The Jim Ayers Foundation Scholarship, the Hagan Scholarship, and the Decatur County Education Foundation Scholarship.
Following Methodist Pre-School and then as a Clarksburg Kindergarten student, Thatcher was taught from the beginning to love everything about school. He spent his formative years at Hollow Rock-Bruceton where his public education foundation was laid, and he was challenged and given many opportunities through extra-curricular activities.
During his high school years at Riverside High School, he was challenged through advanced classes and drove across campus to enroll at UTM for two years of college classes. During his years at Riverside, he was provided the opportunity to meet weekly with two employees from the Jim Ayers Foundation from First Bank along with the school counselors to assist with financial aid, scholarship opportunities, college admission and career readiness, which was a great asset and very beneficial.
As a high school graduate, Thatcher appreciates so much the public school educators and counselors who helped and encouraged him to achieve his goals and the opportunity made available to him at Tennessee Tech to continue his post-secondary education. Thatcher is a member of Huntingdon Missionary Baptist Church.
