Six members of the Carroll County Rescue Squad (CCRS) attended the 70th Anniversary Convention of the Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads (TARS) on October 3–4, where two were elected to state leadership positions.
Captain Curt Taylor was elected President of the state organization, and Jan Brotherton was re-elected Secretary.

They were elected during the general business meeting on October 4.
Other CCRS members who attended the convention included Unit Director Leon Dillingham, Chaplain Arthur Pritchard, and members Andrew Taylor and Jill Taylor.
Throughout the weekend, members completed several advanced training sessions.
Andrew Taylor took classes qualifying him as a local-level trainer and expanded his expertise through a Rescue College course focused on complex rescue scenarios. Jill Taylor participated in a session on SARTOPO, a mapping program used during search-and-rescue operations to track personnel in the field. Curt Taylor attended Tennessee Emergency Management Agency training on managing large-scale emergency operations.
“The Carroll County Rescue Squad is proud to have members who are active not only in the local community but also at the state level,” a CCRS spokesperson said.
The Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads includes 94 departments and more than 1,500 members across Tennessee, Virginia, and Kentucky.
