The Rockets wasted no time getting on the board. Trae Cobb led off with a single, stole second and third, and eventually scored on an error in the first inning. Garrett Bartholomew followed with a two-run double to center, putting Clarksburg ahead 2-0 before West Carroll came to bat.

West Carroll answered. R.Q. Thompson led off the bottom of the first inning with a walk, and J.W. Rushing doubled him in. Harlan Hames then singled to score Rushing, tying the game at 2-2.
