Several County Cross Country Runners Qualify for State

Carroll County cross country teams and runners had a great meet at Dresden in the regional and the Huntingdon Mustangs finished fourth and will advance to the state meet in Memphis on November 6, and the McKenzie girls also qualified for the state meet at Shelby Farms in Memphis.

Huntingdon’s Blaine Todd with a time of 16:28.80 was the overall winner in the boys race and Huntingdon’s Shawn Simpson ran a 17:03.40 for fourth place. The Mustangs earned 76 points as a team for the fourth-place finish and a state berth. The Fillies cross country team finished just outside fourth place with 123 points behind Hickman County who totaled 101 points.

McKenzie’s Abigal Wallace finished second in the girls meet with a time of 20:06.

Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central senior Madison Holder finished fifth with a time of 21:29.70.

Both Wallace and Holder will run in the state meet.
