Tennessee is among the states affected by a growing salmonella recall tied to jalapeño peppers, and consumers who recently purchased certain Taylor Farms products at major retailers should check their refrigerators.
Taylor Fresh Foods announced August 9 that it is recalling finished products containing jalapeños after being notified that Coast Citrus Distributors was voluntarily recalling fresh jalapeños due to potential salmonella contamination.
A grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, that supplies to Coast Citrus Distributors was identified as the potential source of the outbreak. Taylor Fresh Foods is no longer sourcing products from that farmer.
The recalled products include salsas, dips, sandwiches, and more, sold at major retailers including Kroger, Target, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, and Whole Foods.
Tennessee is among the 26 states where recalled products were distributed. Affected items carry best-by dates up to and including August 16, 2026.
The salmonella outbreak linked to the jalapeños has sickened approximately 345 people across 27 states and led to 36 hospitalizations.
No illnesses have been directly linked to Taylor Farms products specifically.
Consumers with recalled products should discard them immediately and not consume them.
Refunds are available at the place of purchase.

This is the second significant recall involving Taylor Farms in recent weeks.
Carroll County Observer previously reported on a cyclospora outbreak linked to Taylor Farms iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico, which prompted Taco Bell and other restaurants to temporarily pull fresh produce from their menus.
That outbreak sickened thousands nationwide before the lettuce was removed from circulation.
