PARKERS CROSSROADS, Tenn. — Parkers Crossroads Battlefield Park will host a piece of history Saturday, Aug. 1, when the Resolute of Jackson Vintage Base Ball Club plays its first home game at noon on the southeast corner of the battlefield at the intersection of Wildersville Road and Highway 22.
The Resolute, West Tennessee’s first vintage base ball club, will face Mountain City in a contest played under authentic Civil War-era rules — wooden bats only, no gloves, no spittin’, no cussin’, and no slidin’. The game is part of the Tennessee Association of Vintage Base Ball’s inaugural season for the club.
Admission is free and the public is invited. Shade and seating will be limited, so spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and portable shade. The Resolute is also welcoming prospective players interested in learning the game.
