Hello everybody! Jesse here.
It feels like a long time since I last wrote for an editorial page, though, it has only been less than three weeks.
I am excited to welcome you to this new venture in local news reporting: Carroll County Observer.
On this website, you will find much of the news and information you’ve been accustomed to in other publications. The primary difference will be that, at this point in time, there won’t be a physical component.
While the lack of a physical paper may seem like a disadvantage at first, it’s actually freeing in many ways.
First, there is no space limitation. Stories can be as long or as short as they need to be.
Secondly, being online as it is allows for experimentation with a variety of media.
The site is currently set up to accept subscriptions, and there are also sponsorship opportunities. You may notice the “advertisement” banners in various places.
I invite you to look around and test the site out. If you like what you see, I invite you to subscribe here.
As this is a work in progress, I ask that you bear with me over these next few weeks while I navigate the inner-workings of this medium. Though this is not the first website I’ve ever built, it is the first one that is expected to be functional for the public at large.
I am aware that several crucial sections are missing, and am working to add those in. If you see that there is something missing, please let me know via email, and I will try my best to implement it.
