BRUCETON, Tenn. — Bruceton’s annual Bruceton in May festival returns Saturday, May 16 from 11 a.m. until at least 11 p.m. at Bruceton City Park.
The free event will feature 62 vendors, including 21 food vendors and 13 food trucks.
“There’s no reason to walk away hungry or thirsty,” Mayor Robert T. Keeton, III told aldermen at Tuesday’s meeting.
Live music begins at 1 p.m. with four bands scheduled throughout the day. Wallace & Company performs from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by Randy Delaney and the Flashback Band from 3 to 5 p.m. and Mayce Mitchell from 5 to 7 p.m. Kelso Mojo headlines from 7 to 11 p.m.
The day kicks off at 11 a.m. with an opening ceremony featuring the national anthem by Ariella Hall and a flag ceremony by the Veterans Honor Guard.
A dog show begins at noon at T-Ball Field, with registration starting at 11:30 a.m. Categories include Senior Sass (age 7 and up), Fabulous Female, Fascinating Fella, Crowd Favorite, and Best Dressed. Entry fee is $10 per dog for two categories. The event is sponsored by Carroll County Humane Society, which will showcase adoptable dogs.
A duck calling contest with Travis Ward of Makers Call Company runs from 12:30 to 1 p.m.
Additional activities include flint knapping demonstrations, live wood carvings, a car show by Small Town Cruisers, train rides from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., a petting zoo, face painting, bouncy houses, and performances by magician Ruby the Magician. Sugar and Spice line dancing group will lead dancing in front of the stage throughout the day.
Representatives from Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park and Natchez Trace State Park will be on site.
The forecast calls for clear weather with warm temperatures. Organizers recommend bringing sunscreen.
