HUNTINGDON, Tenn. — The town’s Beer Board is set to consider a permit application from the Huck’s convenience store next Tuesday, July 28.
Huck’s is located at 23 Veterans Drive North.
When the store was first built, its close proximity to Huntingdon Church of Christ kept it from qualifying for a beer permit under the town’s 300-foot distance rule.
That hurdle disappeared in December, when the Town Council gave final approval to an ordinance eliminating the 300-foot distance requirement from churches and schools for properties in the town’s B-1 and B-2 business districts.
The application, submitted by Martin & Bayley, Inc. on behalf of the store, requests off-premise beer sales only.
It has already cleared two of three required reviews.
The Huntingdon Police Department verified the applicant information as substantially true and correct on July 16, and the town’s Codes Enforcement Official signed off on July 22, confirming the premises meets zoning requirements and separation standards under Section 8-211 of the Huntingdon Municipal Code.
If the Beer Board approves the application, Huck’s would become the latest addition to the town’s growing list of beer retailers, following Cash Saver’s approval under the same ordinance change earlier this year.
