MCKENZIE, Tenn. — A Carroll County man was killed Friday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 79, according to a preliminary report released by the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP).

Steven Gooch, 56, was riding a bicycle eastbound across Hwy 79 when he was hit by a 2010 Ford traveling northbound on the highway. Gooch suffered fatal injuries in the collision.
The driver of the vehicle, Alec Meddings, 33, of McKenzie was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the crash. No charges have been filed against the driver at this time, according to the report.
